Approved Applications for Waiver of the Annual Limits Requirements of the PHS Act Section 2711 as of November 1, 2010

*All Applicants Listed have had 1 or more plans/policies approved

Applications for waivers from annual limit requirements are reviewed on a case by case basis by Department officials who look at a series of factors including whether or not a premium increase is large or if a significant number of enrollees would lose access to their current plan because the coverage would not be offered in the absence of a waiver. Approved applicants are granted an annual limit waiver for one year. Battle of Ia Drang-Operation Silver Bayonet

November 14-18 1965, Battle of Ia Drang- the first battle between the PAVN or the NVA and the new in country US Army. Causalities: US -304 KIA-- PAVN dead estimated 1800 to 3000.

Lessons learned-the American Army figured that Air Mobility supported by artillery was a great tactic as the results were a 12-1 kill ratio. The Army conclusions sent innovation into hibernation at this point and no further thinking, other than attrition, was committed until General Creighton Williams Abrams Jr took over and changed from search and destroy tactics to clear and hold.

For the NVA, lessons learned were dubious at best and stupid at worse. Despite coming away with an awful casualty bill the NVA leadership, nevertheless, concluded that if you hugged the bear the American air and artillery advantage would be canceled. This was the thinking after taking a awful beating ratio of 12 NVA dead to one American. Solid thinking don't you think. Takes you right back to WWI.

Sgt. Stan Roberts, 2LAR

Sgt. Stan Roberts three tours of duty- two tours with the 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion (2d LAR) and one tour 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion (2d AAV) . On June 6, 2007 Sgt. Roberts was wounded when an IED blast into his amphibious assault vehicle took off his leg.

On November 4, 2010 Two LAR and Operation Coming Home welcomed Sgt. Roberts with the keys to his new home: Operation Coming Home.com

"The Hero Home, built by Royal Oaks Building Group, LLC with land donated by developer Gaines and Company, cost under $5000 thanks to the donations of materials and labor from additional sponsors and volunteers. 1st LAR Operation Steel Dawn II in Barham Chah.

DIVIDS "1st Light Armored Reconnaissance battalion recently conducted Operation Steel Dawn II in Barham Chah. Steel Dawn II was a clearing operation in Helmand province, Afghanistan."
Looks like shelling on the hill with the white smoke. And that must the suburbs of Barham Chah.

3LAR WolfPack Deployed to AFG

DIVIDS--The 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion Wolf Pack has left on deployment to Helmand province, Afghanistan. The men of 3rd LAR will be taking over from 1st LAR in Afghanistan and expect to return home May 2011.

While the Marines hated saying goodbye to their loved ones, they were excited to finally take their chance to get “into the fight.”

“We are stoked,” said Cpl. Craig Baginski, a squad leader with 3rd LAR. “We are done practicing. We are ready for the real game. Put me in, coach.”

There is a mission to accomplish in Afghanistan, and the Marines and sailors of 3rd LAR know their purpose, how to accomplish their mission and there is full confidence in their capacity to fulfill its mission, said Lt. Col. Ken Kassner, 3rd LAR’s battalion commander.

“Our purpose is to protect the Afghan people from insurgent threat and intimidation,” he said. “As an LAR battalion, we can achieve it by stabilizing the area, actively engaging the local leadership, participating with security forces and working to promote the local governance.”

The battalion is fully equipped and ready for their mission, said Cpl. Jesse Keeney.

“We aren’t going down due to lack of firepower,” he said, laughing.

The Pack seemed to have a mutual feeling of excitement and readiness upon its departure.

“We are very excited, the Wolf Pack team trained and worked hard together,” Kassner said. “This is my fourth deployment with [this] LAR in less than six years. I am confident in its capabilities.”

The battalion was trained aboard the Combat Center with the help of several supporting units and was thankful for those who helped prepare them for combat.

“The professional competency in our warfighting capability that resides in the unit is due to training support received at the Combat Center,” Kassner said. “[Tactical Training Exercise Control Group] and [Marine Corps Tactics and Operations Group] worked closely with us to sharpen our skills. I am very grateful as commander in all the support.”

ToDay In Red Flag Stupid History- Nov. 5th 2009-Army Nidal Malik Hasan

Nov. 5, 2009: Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan kills 13 soldiers, 1 unborn fetus and wounds 30 soldiers at Fort Hood, Texas, in the largest mass shooting on a military base. Despite serious and clear warning signs the Major had gone round the bend Army leadership went into career safe mode action stations. Instead of yanking the major's chain in, Army leadership, instead, went all soft, gushy,and fiercely politically correct. The major gets a free pass on his rants because he is a member of the "religion of peace".

General George Casey later went on to accent just how out to lunch the Army has become with his analysis of just what really and truly is at stake here and brother it ain't the lives of soldiers:

“Our diversity, not only in our Army, but in our country, is a strength. And as horrific as this tragedy was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think that’s worse,” Casey said.

Stupid does not stop there. No. Hell. No. Stupid was compounded with interest by POTUS Dude who had to offer a "shout out" BEFORE addressing the nation with news of the massacre. Class. Ain't that just so precious.

Not to be out done, the Fort Hood Report by the DOD completely omitted the word "MUSLIM" from it's analysis. Bloody stupido. If you want clarity and not Army Stupid read the Major's analysis at the Washington Post:The Koranic World View as it relates to Muslims in the U.S. Military. This is the presentation he gave to his fellow officers.

Frederick News:The Marines of Bravo Company, 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion are off to a good start. They had about $9,000 and 1,000 toys left over from last year's drive. Their annual Bikes for Tykes on Oct. 3 raised $7,500, enough to buy about 175 bicycles for children of all ages. The joint offensive by Afghan troops and Marines from the 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion in the Barham Chah bazaar area of Helmand Province lasted all day Saturday and into Sunday. Insurgents tried to repel the international force using small-arms fire from several different positions and improvised explosive devices, or IEDs, planted around the bazaar, ISAF said.

BAGRAM AIR FIELD, AFGHANISTAN -- It's a heart-stopping and heartbreaking catalogue of the mayhem, heroics and human toll of modern war.

Every Thursday afternoon doctors, nurses and medics gather in a conference room at the military hospital here, linked by telephone or videocam to colleagues at all the combat hospitals in Afghanistan, and at military hospitals in Europe and the United States. Over two hours, this virtual assembly of about 80 people reviews the care of every U.S. service member critically injured in Afghanistan in the previous week.

Project Valour-IT, in memory of SFC William V. Ziegenfuss, helps provide voice-controlled/adaptive laptop computers and other technology to support Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines recovering from hand wounds and other severe injuries. Technology supplied includes:

Project Valour-IT began when Captain Charles “Chuck” Ziegenfuss was wounded by an IED while serving as commander of a tank company in Iraq in June 2005.

During his deployment he kept a blog (an online personal diary, opinion forum, or news analysis site-called a milblog or military weblog when written by a servicemember or about military subjects). Captivating writing, insightful stories of his experiences, and his self-deprecating humor won him many loyal readers. After he was wounded, his wife continued his blog, keeping his readers informed of his condition.

As he began to recover, CPT Ziegenfuss wanted to return to writing his blog, but serious hand injuries hampered his typing. When a loyal and generous reader gave him a copy of the Dragon Naturally Speaking Preferred software, other readers began to realize how important such software could be to CPT Ziegenfuss’ fellow wounded soldiers and started cast about for a way to get it to them.

A fellow blogger (blog author) who writes under the pseudonym FbL contacted Captain Ziegenfuss and the two realized they shared a vision of providing laptops with voice-controlled software to wounded soldiers whose injuries prevented them from operating a standard computer. FbL contacted Soldiers Angels, who offered to help develop the project, and Project Valour-IT was born.

In sharing their thoughts, CPT Ziegenfuss (now a Major) and FbL found that memories of their respective fathers were a motivating factor in their work with the project. Both continue their association with this project in memory of the great men in their lives whose fine examples taught them lasting lessons of courage and generosity.

In the years since its founding in 2005, the project has acted to meet emerging needs and its mission of supporting the the severely wounded has expanded. In addition to voice-controlled laptops, Valour-IT now helps provide active and whole-body video games such as Wii Sports, which is used to great effect in physical therapy, and personal GPS systems that help compensate for short-term memory loss and organizational/spacial challenges common in those with brain injuries.

Marines train as a full unit for first time since deployment

Before sunrise Saturday, more than 120 Marine reservists from around the Mid-Atlantic came together for training as a full company for the first time since a part of the company deployed to Afghanistan last fall. Since the Marines of Bravo Company, 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion returned home over Memorial Day weekend, the men haven't all been at one place at the same time.
