Petty Officer 3rd Class Mark Connolly, a corpsman serving with 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, was awarded the Bronze Star with combat distinguishing device here, Jan 22, 2013. Connolly, a native of Corvalis, Mont., deployed with the battalion in 2011 and was awarded for his heroism during a firefight in Afghanistan.
