H and S 4thLAR Training in Republic of South Africa



AUG 2011: Marines from Jump Platoon, H&S Company, 4th LAR Bn, awaiting movement back home from Cape Town, Republic of South Africa. The grunts from Jump served as the Security Platoon during Operation Shared Accord 2011, a three week joint US & RSA operation where South African National Defense Forces (SANDF) and US Marines trained side by side in infantry tactics, and US medical and veterinary personnel from the Army, Navy, and Air Force worked with the South African Medical Service (SAMS) to provide care and treatment to the poorest members of South Africa's Eastern Cape.
