Got Armor-Get Paid

Stars & Stripes: "The Marines announced Friday that servicemembers can now be reimbursed for the following additional items:

* Side plate body armor, up to $600 per set.
* Deltoid and auxiliary protectors, up to $285 per set.
* Elbow pads, up to $20 per set.
* Knee pads, up to $20 per set.
* Summer weight gloves, up to $18 per pair.

The items were added to the list of reimbursable protective gear on Dec. 10, 2005, according to the Web site.

The Defense Department has begun to send extra body armor to U.S. troops in Iraq after a May 2005 study by the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology showed that several Marines whose deaths were analyzed received fatal wounds to exposed areas of their torsos, such as their shoulders."
