President Nambaryn Enkhbayar, ever the gracious guest, said something real nice which I appreciated. "He said Mongolia was committed to the Iraq mission, in part because the United States and other allies did not abandon Mongolia when it was struggling."

America has been adopted by Mongolian leaders as its "third neighbor," "looking forward to trade and investment and enlisting as a full partner in the global war on terrorism." This third neighbor thing takes a bit of a quantum leap as Mongolia is surrounded by Russia to the North and China to the South.
