"I noted earlier an ABC interview with Chechen terrorist leader Shamil Besayev that has caused a bit of a diplomatic row between Washington and Moscow. What I didn't notice then, however, was this part.
The Chechen rebel leader who organized a deadly hostage-taking attack on a Russian school last year admitted he was a terrorist but said in an interview being broadcast Thursday that each Russian had to feel the impact of war before it would stop in Chechnya.
Despite the fact that Besayev admitted to being a terrorist, the Associated Press article continues the story calling him, and other Chechen terrorists, "rebels." The media doesn't like suing the t-word because it is a "loaded" and "emotional" term. But doesn't that pretty much become irrelevant when the "rebels," "guerillas," or "militants" call themselves terrorists?"
