The Destroyermen
A Navy blog by Chris van Avery, Lt. Cmdr., U.S. N opened to rave reviews and less than a month later was shut for attracting too much attention from Higher and not for for opspec. The blog is about "life aboard the USS Russell DG59 through the eyes of her crew". The blog provided a minuscule relationship to the families left on shore and for those of us who have never left the sight of the shore, while out fishing at sea, a chance to read what life is like for those who do. Apparently, some one Higher heard the howls and gnashing of teeth over the shuttered blog and sent the following:
"COMPACFLT, CHINFO and DOD are aware and approve."
